PRINTALLPOSSIBLEEXTRASFOROCCUPATION `PRINTALLPOSSIBLEEXTRASFOROCCUPATION` is a Occupation cheat in Paralives, entered through the console (open with Ctrl+F1 or Ctrl+Shift+C). Frequently asked
What Reddit, Steam and Discord keep asking — answered straight
Is there a Paralives demo, and what does early access mean?
No public demo at launch — the team went straight to early access. Early access means the game is playable but not feature-complete: features will be added over time with free updates. Expect ongoing patches across the year, plus seasonal content drops and the occasional delayed milestone. The roadmap outlines what's coming, what's upcoming, and what was quietly pushed back.
Will Paralives run on my laptop, MacBook or Steam Deck?
A modern gaming laptop with a discrete GPU clears the recommended bar comfortably. MacBook users on Apple Silicon can play — see our Mac guide for frame caps and the Rosetta status. On Steam Deck (including the OLED revision), steamdeck compatibility is unofficial-playable: cap to 40 fps, dial down shadows, and a dock makes the UI scaling more comfortable. No console version — no PS5 and no iOS port is planned.
Is Paralives a real Sims competitor or just another life sim?
It's the most credible Sims competitor shipping today. Among life simulators, the field this generation includes inZOI, Life by You (which imploded during early access), Vivaland, BitLife, and the unreleased Sims 5 (Project Rene). Paralives' angle: hand-painted art, no grid in build mode, and a smaller scope done well. Whether it's a true successor to The Sims depends on how AI, careers and seasons land in later updates.
How much does Paralives cost — and is it worth it right now?
Regional prices are set on the Steam store page; check there for your country before checkout. Many players tried it on launch day, others are watching from the sidelines until more content lands. Our perspective: it's worth it if you love build mode and don't mind missing features; wait if you want full career depth and aging polish. Plenty of comments on the subreddit say the same.
Are there DLCs, expansions or paid content?
No DLCs announced for the early-access phase. The studio's stated approach: post-release content arrives as free updates until 1.0. A post-release roadmap with paid expansions hasn't been ruled out, but nothing is being sold or paywalled beyond the base game today. Custom-content creators are not allowed to charge for content per current community guidelines.
Can my ParaFolk have babies, teens, and aging — like The Sims?
Yes. Pregnancy works, babies grow into kids and teens, and life stages progress to elders. Aging speed is adjustable. The "babytrap" mechanic from The Sims has no exact equivalent — ParaFolk relationships use vibes and consent flags. Creating a household in the ParaMaker covers genetics, hair, body shape, and shared facial features across generations.
Where do I get mods, custom content, and downloaded builds?
Steam Workshop is the official path — items downloaded there auto-update. Nexus Mods hosts a smaller catalogue of code mods. There is no separate launcher: everything runs through Steam. A community megathread on r/Paralives tracks the most downloaded picks each month, and you'll see Simsie, lilsimsie and other big-name creators dropping seeing-is-believing build showcases regularly.
Is there multiplayer, online play, or shared worlds?
No. Paralives is single-player offline — no online mode, no shared servers, no co-op servers, and no accounts beyond your Steam login. You can share builds via Workshop, but live sessions aren't a planned feature this year.
What's actually in the game — careers, seasons, pets, food?
Live in Melino across four districts including ocean-side and woodland areas, with a playground, grocery store, café and outdoor dinner spots. Cook real foods from breakfast to dinner — pasta, cheese plates, soup, an appetizer menu. Pets: cats and dogs are first-class, not DLC. A full seasons cycle and a wider career tree are on the upcoming roadmap. Some asked-for items (a medieval pack, a manga-style art mode, true farming) are community wishlist, not confirmed.
Will the devs release patches, hotfixes and content drops on time?
The devs have a track record of communicating openly — even when announcing delaying a milestone. Releases arrive in waves: a December patch, a prime spring drop, then ongoing fixes. The team is accessible on Discord and posts thoughts on Patreon. If something is delayed, expect a forthright explanation rather than radio silence.
State of the game
What's in, what's coming, what players keep suggesting
Live in Melino across four districts including the lakeside tavern, a community pool, and a small downtown with shops. Your ParaFolk can craft clothes in the wardrobe, raise tulips and herbs in modest gardening plots, and host neighbours for a slow dinner. Build mode supports a ramp, half-walls, split-levels, and a continuous colour wheel. Custom keys and keybinding remapping are exposed in settings. Pets (cats, dogs) follow you around the lot with their own reflexes and routines.
A full seasons cycle, deeper careers (lab researcher, chef, software engineer), a suit-and-tie office career path, swallow-the-day workday loops, and richer school episodes for kids and teens are community suggestions, not promises. A devs sneak peek on Patreon usually previews one new feel per month — a new lot type, a new generation of furniture, or a magical story event. Less certain are a medieval pack, a manga-style art toggle, true open-world farming, and a music-instrument system. Anything labelled "upcoming" is on the roadmap; anything else is fan dream.
The team is small but independendly funded and self-positioned against bigger studios. They've been making the game for years and were one of the least-publicised projects until Sims fans finally caught on. The studio is based in Quebec, posts a preview roughly each month, and has stayed accessible on Discord throughout. Whether you came from BitLife, inZOI, the legacy Sims series, or you're seeing the genre for the first time, the on-ramp is gentle. Plenty of long-time players say it's the kind of game they wanted to repeat playthroughs of — and several creators like lilsimsie, Simsie, and Plumbella have thanked the team publicly for shipping something honest in an era of delayed AAA life sims.
